The other day I saw where they wanted to rename Greenland, Graceland. And change the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of Elvis.
All right. Just kidding. But the point is, you got the joke, right?
Truth is, the King is still ubiquitous nearly 50 years after his untimely death. Ubiquitous? Oh, that’s just a fancy word that means Elvis is everywhere. It’s all explained in the song.
The references are a little dated. But you gotta love how they mix in the Bermuda Triangle, Stonehenge, the Pyramids, and even Star Trek and Michael J. Fox.
Elvis is Everywhere, came out in 1987, which also happens to be the year my new novel is set in. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
This whole notion of Elvis being everywhere and in everything is part of the inspiration for the book. Not only is he everywhere, he never died–at least not in the context of Last Bridge to Memphis.

Elvis is not the whole book, by the way. SPOILER: he’ll have a bigger role in the sequel. But his character does hold the story together. He’s the spiritual center of it.
I’ve been a fan to some extent since my teen years. But as I’ve studied the man and his legend, looked into his soul the best I could these past several years, I’ve become more than a fan. I’m a believer. I wouldn’t call it an evolution. More like an Elvislution!
