Been a while since I’ve posted, and there are so many reasons for that. For one, I’ve been head-to-the-grindstone writing the next book in the “Last Bridge to Memphis” thriller series. I had hoped to get the draft finished in 2025 and may still do so, but you know … life.
For another reason, this website was hacked and rendered unusable earlier in the year after some yahoo or yahoos injected a bunch of malware via my contact and comment forms, which is why I have disabled those functions.
It’s beyond me why someone would do a thing like that, as it serves no purpose beyond causing misery, and maybe that’s the purpose. Driving you crazy. That seems to be the goal of just about everything these days.
Anyway, I came across this live performance by the British group, Fine Young Cannibals, from 1989. It was a number one hit. And it will always have a special place in my heart because back in the 1990s, when I anchored the news in Kansas City on a hip and ahead of its time program called Fox 41 News, we used the bridge from the song as transition music to commercial breaks. It’s still every bit as infectious as it was thirty-some years ago.
Just try not to feel joy and good memories when you watch this piece of nostalgia. I’m living in a virtual 1989 right now as I draft the book sequel, and it is just the tonic I needed. I hope it does the same for you.
